[Herkunft unsicher] Singular Cọllie der, -s, Schottische Schäferhunde, aus Schottland und West-England stammende Hunderassen, ursprünglich Hirtenhunde, heute überwiegend Wach-, Schutz- und Begleithunde; Schädel lang und flach mit langem Fang. Bis auf die Haarlänge sind Lang- (Smooth Collies) und Kurzhaarcollie (Rough Collies) sehr ähnlich, etwas abweichend im Aussehen ist der Bearded Collie mit langem Fell und Hängeohren; alle Rassen in mehreren Farbvarietäten: goldsable (goldbraun), tricolor (schwarz-weiß-rot), blue-merle (blau marmoriert).
